Main Highlights of the Indian Budget 2009

The Indian Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee presented the first budget of the second United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government on Monday July 6, 2009.

These are the allotments to some major sectors.

  • Defense
    • Rs 1, 41,703 crore was issued which 23% more then the last year.

  • Health
    • Nation Rural Health Mission Rs 12,070 crore

  • Indian Welfare Schemes
    • Bharat Nirman Rs 12,000 crore
    • Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana Rs 8,800 crore
    • Indira Awars Yojana Rs 7,000 crore
    • Rajvi Gandhi Grameen Vidhutikaran Yojana Rs 2,000 crore
    • Jawarhal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission 12,887

  • Rural Employment
    • National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme Rs 39,100 crore

  • Environment
    • Rs 562 crore National River and Lake Conservations Plan
    • Rs 100 crore for Indian council Of Forestry Research

  • Education
    • Rs. 2,113 crore for IITS and NITS.
    • Rs. 900 crore for Mission in Education through ICT Scheme.
    • Rs. 827 crore for establishing one central university in each uncovered state.

there are no allocations for industry and infrastructre in this budget, to grow the country infrastructre and industry developement should be there, this budget is for poor people and it's poor budget. india will go back to 10 years with this budget.

Your perception of this budget is absolutely right. It is not favouring industrialist that is the reason why the Stock market is tumbling after this budget.
