Harry Potter and the half blood prince

Plot Summary   : Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort's defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn't counted on Romilda Vane's chocolates! And then there's Hermione, simmering with jealously but determined not to show her feelings. As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.—Warner Bros.,

It has been nine long years since the first Harry Potter movie hit the screens, but the enthusiasm does not seem to die down. With the much awaited Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince striding into the theatres, Potter Mania is back!

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is based on the novel of the same name by J. K. Rowling. It’s the sixth film in the famous Harry Potter series. Back in 1997, the first novel of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was released. Since then the series has been creating a revolution of its own gaining immense popularity worldwide. The book series has sold more than 400 million copies and has been translated into 67 languages, and the last four books have consecutively set records as the fastest-selling books in history.

The books chronicle the adventures of the adolescent wizard Harry Potter, together with Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, his friends from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizard. The central story is about Harry's battle against the evil wizard Lord Voldemort, who killed Harry's parents in his quest to conquer the magical and non-magical (Muggle) world.

In Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Harry returns to Horgwarts for his sixth year of study. Voldemort has become so violent that even Muggles have noticed its effects. At the beginning of the novel, Harry stumbles upon an old potions textbook filled with notes by a mysterious writer, the Half-Blood Prince. While the notes help Harry to finally excel at potions, he eventually realizes that some of them have evil results. Harry also participates in private sessions with Albus Dumbledore, who shows him various memories concerning the early life of Voldemort. These sessions reveals some of the dark secrets of Lord Voldemort.

It has been two years since the last Harry Potter movie was released and the initial reviews say that the wait has been worthwhile; the movie is a spectacle to watch. The movie comes with a whole lot of incredibly brilliant special effects. Though the story has a darker and intense plotline, there are some lighter moments with a good dose of humor, romance and charm.

As of 14 July 2009, the film holds a rare 96% "Certified Fresh" rating on the film review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes, based on 113 reviews. So far, it stands as the most critically acclaimed Harry Potter film.
